BEFORE: My sad little lashes
While my parents may have blessed me with awesome cheekbones, they failed me genetically in the eyelash department. To make matters worse, not only does my husband sport a set of eyelashes that would rival those of a Jersey cow, even our dog appears to be permanently clad in the most redonkulously long lashes I’ve ever seen. It’s torture I tells ya!
Seeing as:
I’ve neither the resources or patience for Latisse, False eyelashes require copious amounts of trimming to fit on my beady eyes I had a bad eyelash tabbing experience that left me looking as if a pair of tarantulas decided to homestead on my eyes.
I’d pretty much resigned myself to silently seething at anyone and everyone with long lashes and wasting a lifetime of dollars on mascaras that LIE. Well, that was until a generous pal set me up with Cathy Dinh at Park Cities Lash Boutique for eyelash extensions.
Situated within Salon Boutique at Preston Center, Park Cities Lash Boutique was very easy to find. I managed to show up on time and was quickly put at ease by Cathy’s calm demeanor. Seriously, if someone is going to be working around your eyes with tweezers, they better have the tranquility of Buddha himself! Cathy’s cozy boutique had a very relaxing atmosphere and anything that requires that I peacefully rest upon a comfy, blanketed table for two hours with my eyes closed is right up my alley.
Cathy explained that because my lashes weren’t naturally long, she would be using lashes that would complement my own and not leave me sporting a set of eyelashes that Ru Paul would envy. I asked for a full, natural set and after Cathy took a couple of ‘Before pictures – with my permission, of course – and after applying a hydrating get pack under my eyes to protect my bottom lashes, she set about the daunting task of painstakingly attaching the extensions to my lashes one by one.
Cathy explained that most of her customers fall asleep during the process – though I peppered her with questions the entire time - I can see why, it’s a great way to catch a catnap – makes the whole process fly by. Once it was over and the glue was dried, I was floored by how beautiful my eyelashes looked and I couldn’t stop staring at them on the drive home, dangerous, I know!
AFTER: My hawt, rockin' lashes. Look ma, no mascara!
It’s been over a week now and the biggest difference I’ve noticed between my old lashes and my fancy, new extensions is that I don’t need mascara or an eyelash curler at all and considering these new lashes will last me anywhere from 60 to 90 days, I’m thrilled to have one less step in my cosmetics routine.
As for the complements? From the moment I left Cathy’s lash boutique the complements, ranging from complete strangers stopping me to my husband’s, “Wow! Your eyes look amazing”, began to pour in and I began singing Cathy’s praises!
I must admit, though, I struggled a little for a few days afterwards. I’m not used to longer lashes so I found myself batting them about, wondering what was brushing against my eyebrows. I also accidentally and violently rubbed my eye four days in and lost a lash, but guess what? I didn’t lose a lash! Woo-hoo!
My verdict? If you want gorgeous, lush lashes, Park Cities Lash Boutique’s Cathy Dinh is your woman! The whole process was a breeze, and my lashes look amazing. A full set of lashes with Cathy starts at $200 - don’t balk, I promise you’re getting a steal at this cost, Cathy is a licensed esthetician and advanced certified lash stylist and remember, these will last 60 to 90 days! Fills and maintenance are a very affordable $50.
